What in the world is Scrip?
Scrip is a way to fundraise by purchasing gift certificates. In fact, the term ‘scrip’ means ‘substitute money’. For example, say you need to buy a new refrigerator and decide on the snazzy $500 model at Lowe’s. Rather than purchase it outright at Lowe’s, you first buy a $500 Lowe’s gift card at MCA, and use it to buy the fridge at Lowe’s; then 4% of the sale will go to you and to MCA! That’s $20 for you and MCA with no extra cost to either.
Here’s another example. Pretty much everyone needs to buy gas to drive their kids to and from MCA every day. If a family spends $200 a month on gas purchases from using a Speedway scrip card with a 4% discount, that is $8 back to MCA and the family. The money that you earn will be applied to your tuition twice a year (April and December).
That alone doesn’t sound like much, but the average MCA family saves a minimum of $100 for each posting of credits!! In today’s tough economy, be wise and get the most out of every dollar spent on the necessities of our daily lives.
Each retailer determines how much of a discount to offer -- from 2% to 15% or more. The idea is to make a little extra revenue for MCA through purchases you would make anyway, such as food, clothes, gifts, and even fuel. But it does take a little forethought, because you pay with gift certicates or gift cards that you buy at MCA ahead of time. Plus, half of the percentage of profits from your purchases can be applied toward your tuition! Get it? How much does it cost to use ShopWithScrip.com?
- There is no cost. ShopWithScrip.com is a scrip program management tool that is free to MCA scrip families.
What do I need to enroll?
- Go to our registration page at shopwithscrip.com. You can create an account with just an email address. However, you will need MCA’s enrollment code, which is LC7A416A4372, before you can submit orders.
How does ShopWithScrip.com calculate family purchase history and rebates?
- All ShopWithScrip.com reports use the scrip face value and the GLSC net price to calculate family rebates. All reports are available in pdf format for easy sharing, and in Microsoft Excel format for easy analysis and calculation.
Can families pay for their orders at ShopWith Scrip.com?
- ShopWithScrip.com is an order management system only. It does not collect payment from families. After you place an order on ShopWithScrip.com, you are responsible for payment directly to the MCA scrip program.
Oops! I placed my order and I want to change it. Can I do that?
No. However, MCA's scrip coordinator can modify or cancel your order if it hasn't been released to GLSC. Please contact Mrs. Annie Ongay.
Will shopwithscrip.com ship my order to my family?
- No. Great Lakes Scrip Center ships all certificates and gift cards directly to MCA.
Will ShopWithScrip.com give my personal information to spammers and other third parties?
- No. According to the easy-to-read provisions of our Privacy Statement, ShopWithScrip.com will never give your personal information to third parties.
