The Mooresville Christian Academy school board is a self-perpetuating board composed of no more than 7 members. Four board offices are elected which combine to make up the Executive committee.

The board is given the responsibility for the establishment, guidance, and Spiritual leadership in the operation of the school. The board is the policy setting body of MCA, with the administrator having responsibility for the implementation of the Board policies. The board is responsible for employing competent personnel whom they will hold accountable to affect the policies of the school. Approval of the annual budget and any non-budgetary expenses are also the responsibility of the board. Evidences are the board minutes, board agenda, school budget, board policy manual, student handbook, and the school by-laws.

Board Meetings

• Regular school board meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Tuesday of the month. An open forum is held from 7:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on regularly scheduled meetings of the School Board. In order that the busy Board schedule not be unduly disrupted, persons wishing to present concerns or ask questions relevant to school matters should notify the Executive Committee of the Board via the Administrator in advance so that time for them may be included on the agenda (after referring to the COMMUNICATION POLICY on page eight of the handbook). It is understood that some sessions are closed because they deal with staff matters and are necessarily private.

Want a Voice in School Matters? Then why not join an MCA Committee? The following committees meet monthly and welcome your attendance and input. There are six ongoing board committees.

• Facilities reviews the condition of the building, makes budget recommendations, and is active in new projects; chaired by Mrs. Tina Atwell.
• Spiritual Life is active in sponsoring prayer activities, connecting families, emphasizing spiritual growth, and determining character awards; chaired by Mr. Mark Wright.
• Finance recommends the annual budget, tuition, and salaries, as well as monitors the monthly expenditures; chaired by Mr. Mitch Koenig.
• Education reviews curriculum and handbooks and recommends education changes; chaired by Mrs. Laura Lemons.
• Promotions makes suggestions for advertising and investigates “getting the word out” about MCA; chaired by Mr. Paul Tandy.
• Development is active in fundraising and friend-raising events, as well as writing grants; chaired by Dr. Cheryl Keech.
