MCA online auction guideline:
- Each online auction item has a reserve bid price. If the auction item does not meet the reserve price, then the item is NOT SOLD, and the item will be added to the Silent Auction items on the night of the Auction (March 15, 2008).
- The highest bidder of the item during the Silent Auction will win the item. If no additional bids are made during the Silent Auction, then the item will go to the highest bidder from the online auction. The teacher/faculty has the right to pull the item from the auction if it doesn’t meet a minimum price as determined by that teacher/faculty who submitted the item.
- Online auction item winners will be notified via email when the auction closes (around midnight of March 14th). Further, the winners names will be posted at the night of the Auction (March 15, 2008).
- The online auction item winners will be responsible for full payment of their winning item(s), and payment is to be made at the Auction (March 15, 2008).
- Each online auction item winner will be given a certificate or the actual item won at the Auction (March 15, 2008)
Class contest for online items:
- Everyday of the week of March 10th - 14th, there will be a contest amongst the classes for the online auction items. Each day (at 9 pm), the class with the most unique number of bidders for their class item, will win the daily award!
- The daily winning class will be applauded with special decorations for their class room.
How to bid for the online auction items:
This year our online auction items (shown above) will be sold on the eBay auction site. Once the items are available to bid on (starting March 10th), there will be links from each item listed above to the actual eBay auction listing. Just click the link to go directly to the listing!
If you already have an eBay account, click the ‘Sign in’ link at the top of the page and log in using your existing eBay user account id and password.
If you do not already have an eBay account, you will need to register with eBay (it is free). Click the “Register” link at the top of the eBay auction page. Fill out the required information (username, password, your name, and contact info, etc). Click the “Register” button. Continue through the eBay registration process, following their directions.
Once you’re signed in to your eBay account, you’re ready to bid!
To bid on an item, visit the eBay Auction item, and enter a dollar amount into the “Your maximum bid” entry field near the top of the page. Click the “Place Bid” button. The next page will review your bid. Click the “Place This Bid” button. If your bid was the highest, then you’ll be the highest bidder. If your bid was not high enough, then you’ll be given the opportunity to bid another higher amount.
Once you are the high bidder, you’ll see a message that says “You are currently the highest bidder in this auction!” eBay will also send you an email to show that you are the highest bidder. Should you get outbid by another person, eBay will again send you an email telling you that you’ve been outbid.
Happy bidding!
