Since the fall of 1975, Mooresville Christian School opened its doors to share the philosophy of Christian education to its students. Twenty-seven students were enrolled and taught by four full-time teachers.
The vision for Mooresville Christian Academy included a ministry for Christian families without regard to denominational affiliation. Several churches have taken an active interest in our ministry, including Grace Missionary Church, who leased their facilities to us (1975 – Feb. 1994).
MCA Continues to grow by the Lord's grace and by the work and prayers of concerned individuals. The program is continually evaluated so that MCA can offer the best Christian education in an atmosphere of love, dedication and respect.
In 1990, a Before & After School Care was initiated for school families.
In 1994, Mooresville Christian Academy rented a new, larger facility from Springhill Christian Center. Enrollment was 144 with 12 full-time and 4 part-time staff members. The additional space allowed for the addition of a four-year-old kindergarten and a ninth grade to be added in the fall of 1994. With the addition of 9th grade, the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade will be departmentalized as a middle school.
The school year 1994-95 opened with a 45% increased enrollment. We added a physical education teacher, a teacher for our four-year-old Kindergarten class and an art teacher for 5th-9th grades. We also added one full-time aide and four part-time aides.
In 1995 the school rented space in the Grace Church of Mooresville. Grades 6-9 moved to that facility. A computer class and drama class were added to the curriculum. Also, a boy's basketball team was started for grades 7 & 8. Students in grades 5-9 enjoyed intramural volleyball and basketball.
The school year of 1996-97 began with 255 students (K4-8) a third K5 class and a second 3rd grade class were opened to accommodate the enrollment demand in those grades. Grades K4-3 was housed at Springhill Christian Center and Grades 4-8 met at Grace Church of Mooresville. Also the School Board voted to purchase 30 acres of land with the option to purchase 20 additional acres.
Between 1998-2000 the Mooresville Christian Academy built a new facility including a multi-purpose room to be used for gym and special events, upper elementary wing consisting of seven classrooms, a Jr. High wing of seven classrooms, and a Media/Computer center and Administrative offices. In fall of 2000, MCA dedicated the new school building and all classes resided on one campus.
2004-2006 Two computer labs were added. Elementary students received computer instruction through completions of projects. Middle school students received instruction in web page design, video production, and a variety of programs. Middle school students produced their first dinner theater production. Electronic grade book access was made available online for parents.
A soccer field and walking track were installed behind the school. The school added soccer and kickball. Sports were expanded to include the fifth graders.
