Q: What is the auction?
- The annual Mooresville Christian Academy Auction is a great fund raiser undertaken by the MCA parents in support of the school. The event is held at the school and consists of a catered dinner by Gray Brother Catering and a silent auction followed by an exciting live auction. The week ahead of this exciting event, an on-line auction offering special one on one time donated by our wonderful teachers or staff comes open for bidding.
Q: What are the Goals for the Auction?
- There are three primary functions of the MCA auction:
- Raise Money. Clearly the funds to be made are considerable and are of great benefit to our school.
- An opportunity for school parents to come together and celebrate our school community and our common interest in the Christian education of our children.
- Public Relations. An event of this scope not only brings in a great amount of money, but also introduces Mooresville Christian Academy to the community.
Q: Where does the money go?
- All money raised by the auction goes directly to support the school. These funds help meet the many needs of our growing school that are not covered by tuition. Each year, the PTF designates a special school need to be funded by the auction.
Q: Who coordinates and organizes the auction?
- The PTF Auction Committee oversees the auction. Special committees handle facility set-up, procuring auction items, accounting, security and volunteers. The combined effort of many parent volunteers and community members is critical to make this important event a success.
Q: But why dinner? Why not just concessions?
- Dinner is catered by Gray Bros. Catering. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the school. This is an awesome gift we receive from Gray Bros. Catering!
Q: . If Gray Bros is donating the dinner why the $20 cost for a Dinner?
- Remember the goal of the auction is to Raise Money to fund needs of our school. This price is very reasonable based on other fundraising events offered by area schools. Also great consideration must be given to Gray Brother Catering as to the value of their generous gift.
Q: Do I need to pre-purchase Dinner tickets?
- Yes, Dinner tickets must be purchased in advance. Look for information to order your tickets coming home in your child’s back pack the weeks before the auction.
Q: How can I get an auction catalog or tickets?
- Auction catalogs which highlight all items in the auction and our donor businesses will be made available on our website a few weeks before the auction date. The teacher specialties’ on-line auction details will be provided to school families the weeks leading up to the on line auction.
- Auction invitations and ticket request will be sent home in your child’s back pack several weeks before the auction. Any members of the community who would like to receive an invitation can call the school.
Q: . What if I want to bid on an item, but I cannot make it to the auction?
- You may place an absentee bid by contacting the Auction Chair. In addition, you are always welcome to find a friend who is attending the auction and ask them to bid for you.
Q: What if I do not win the items I bid on, but I still want to help the school on auction night?
- Bidding ends at different times for different categories during the silent auction. Once the bidding is closed for certain items you are interested in, you can switch your attention to other items of interest.
- In addition, when you check out after the auction, you have an opportunity to make donations. Every cash donation for the auction is a direct charitable donation. If your company offers a matching fund program, this would be a great time to take advantage of their offer.
Q: How can I help, make a donation, or purchase advertising in the auction catalog?
- All contributions are most welcome and even the smallest job is of great importance in making the auction a success..
- To volunteer your time, contact the PTF
- To donate cash, contact the PTF. Again remember every cash donation for the auction is a direct charitable donation. Don’t forget your company matching fund program.
