Congratulations to the 2006-2007 Girls Basketball team; State Champions!!!

Currently, we have Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, Cross Country, and Soccer. These teams compete with other schools. We also offer a Girls’ Volleyball and Kickball. Additional intramural sports may be offered as we are able. Athletic programs are primarily designed for 5th-8th grade students. Other students are encouraged to participate in community athletic opportunities until such time as MCA is able to sponsor additional club and sports teams.

The Christian philosophy of athletics must stem directly from the school's Christian philosophy of education. The ultimate goal must be

"to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ"
Romans
8:29

and to "develop the spiritual part of the athlete so that the Holy Spirit is in control and directing his or her mind and body.”

It is the goal of MCA athletics that the athletes develop positive Christ-like character qualities and express them through the medium of athletics. Athletics is a microcosm of life. The athletes are confronted with all types of life situations, perfect learning situations for teaching Biblical principles. It is the job of the coaches to properly direct them in these situations so as to build the character qualities. Athletics should help foster vital relationships among team members coming from the team concept and direct leadership of the Christian coach.

Our Mission Statement....

“To glorify God, Mooresville Christian Academy 's mission is to serve Christian families by providing an educational institution that integrates Christian principles and truths with exemplary academic and extracurricular programs. The desired result will be young men and women who will pursue a Christ-centered life.”

Believing that our role at MCA is to assist the home and the Church in the task of training young people, we feel that it is of utmost importance for all of our students, with their families, to be in regular attendance at their church. We do not feel that we are working in harmony with the home, if the family is not active in church.

Our Philisophy...

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

MCA extracurricular programs are designed to enrich the students with a Christian educational experience. The athletic programs are deigned to help develop a healthy attitude toward competition and of winning and losing in life. The nature of sports is such that there are more losers than winners. We as Christians must learn how to lose gracefully, and when God permits us to win, to do so gracefully as well.

We at MCA expect our coaches, our players, and our students to represent the school in a manner that is respectful of others on and off the field of play. We also encourage and endorse the enthusiastic support of constituents and friends. In the process, we expect all such constituents and friends to uphold the same high standards that we expect of our students, which is to be ambassadors of Christ Jesus. Opposing teams and their fans are to be treated as honored guests.

In order for any MCA sports program to glorify God, each participant and parents of the participant must agree to abide by the academic and Christian intent of the rules. While not all instances can be addressed, each participant must understand the programs are designed to enhance the educational experience.

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”

I Corinthians 9:24-27
