Students love our history book! It covers great American heroes who display moral integrity and bravery. They also read a devotional book called “Courageous Christians” which challenges students to be strong in their Christian faith. Students work on history projects during the first semester. The reading program includes two novels that the class reads, studies, and discusses together. One is about the Pilgrims and the other is about children living in the 1900's. The students also complete a Pilgrim project. Students are challenged in math by learning division, fractions, algebra, and more complicated story problems.
Third grade field trips are most enjoyable. They participate in the NIFS program on the campus of IUPUI, the Ruth Lilly Center for health education, and the wonderful family outing at the end of the year at McCormick's Creek. Students and parents carry this memory with them for years to come.
