MCA Christmas Service Project Update
On Saturday, December 22 six MCA parents accompanied 8 MCA students on an unforgettable morning. 3 vehicles caravanned to downtown Indianapolis near Military Park and hand delivered the MCA donated items to the homeless of central Indiana. We met many homeless people, mostly men, who were more appreciative than any of us could have imagined. These people were just like you and I but had reached a point of helplessness and needed somewhere to turn. Some had gotten off the streets and were struggling to stay strong. Others had somewhat given up only to accept their life on the streets. One wanted to make sure that we left the boxes that stored the donated items so that he could keep warm over the winter. Most had a knack for conversation and really enjoyed the company. One memorable man told the kids jokes and sang Christmas songs. One MCA student received a special cowboy hat from a man who wanted to share the one thing he called his own. The MCA students felt such reward in helping but also felt a sense of sadness at what they experienced. It was a day that none of us will forget. One that encourages us to keep giving; One that reminds us of our Lord and Savior. We want to continue to give back and honor Him.
MCA will continue to make a difference in our community and throughout central Indiana. Please continue to give to the Churches in Mission, right here in Mooresville. Their hours are M, W, F from 9 AM-12 PM. Likewise, please continue to collect to following items:
- Men’s jeans
- Backpacks
- Men’s hooded sweatshirts
- Warm winter gloves
- Warm winter hats
- Individually packaged snacks – peanut butter crackers etc
These items do not have to be new and are items that were most requested. You can bring these items to Mrs. Kaye Cunningham in the office. We will be planning one Saturday a month to visit the same area by Military Park. If you would like to join the caravan, please call Mrs. Kaye Cunningham at the school or Mrs. Becki Lord.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Matthew 25:35-36
